ABORIGINAL COUNCILS AND ASSOCIATIONS ACT 1976 No. 186 of 1976 - SECT 12

Explanation of application.
12. (1) Where the Registrar receives an application under section 11, he
shall-

   (a)  inform the adult Aboriginals living in the area to which the
        application relates of his receipt of the application;

   (b)  explain to those Aboriginals-

        (i)    the purpose of the application;

        (ii)   the boundaries of the area the subject of the application; and

        (iii)  the functions of the proposed Aboriginal Council for that area;
               and

   (c)  fix a time and place for a meeting to discuss the application and
        notify those Aboriginals of that time and place.

(2) The Registrar shall carry out his duties under sub-section (1) by any
means that he considers appropriate.
