ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER COMMISSION ACT 1989 No. 150 of 1989 - SECT 25

25. (1) The Commission shall formulate written guidelines, not inconsistent
with the objects of this Act, relating to:

   (a)  the making of loans under sections 16 and 17 to natural persons; and

   (b)  the giving of guarantees under section 19 in respect of loans made to
        natural persons.

(2) The Commission may, from time to time, revise the guidelines.

(3) Subject to section 74, the Commission shall perform its functions and
exercise its powers under sections 16, 17 and 19 in accordance with any
applicable provisions of guidelines from time to time in force under this
section.

(4) Without limiting the operation of the Freedom of Information Act 1982, the
Chief Executive Officer shall ensure that copies of the guidelines as in force
from time to time are:

   (a)  given to each Regional Council; and

   (b)  available for inspection and purchase at each office of the
        Commission.

(5) The Chief Executive Officer shall cause notice of the making of guidelines
under this section to be published in the Gazette.
