NAVIGATION (CONSTRUCTION) REGULATIONS 1968 - REG 29
Tunnels passing through watertight bulkheads
- (1)
- Where a tunnel in a ship, other than a tunnel running beneath the inner
bottom, if any, of the ship, passes through a watertight bulkhead, the tunnel
shall be watertight.
- (2)
- Where a tunnel required by the last preceding subregulation to be
watertight is intended for use as a passage at sea:
- (a)
- the means of access
at one end of the tunnel shall be through a watertight trunkway extending to a
height sufficient to permit access above the margin line; and
- (b)
- the means
of access at the other end of the tunnel shall be through a watertight door.
- (3)
- A tunnel shall not extend through the first watertight subdivision
bulkhead abaft the collision bulkhead.
