NAVIGATION (CONSTRUCTION) REGULATIONS 1968 - REG 149

Controls for ventilation systems

(1)
A ship carrying more than thirty-six passengers shall be equipped with two master controls, situated as far apart as practicable, either of which shall be capable of stopping all the fans in the power ventilation systems of the ship, other than the ventilation systems in the cargo or the machinery space of the ship.

(2)
A power ventilation system serving the machinery space of a ship carrying more than thirty-six passengers shall be provided with two master controls, one situated inside and the other situated outside the machinery space, by means of either of which all fans in the system may be stopped.
