CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY REGULATIONS 1998 - REG 21.281
Investigation of potentially unsafe condition(1) If CASA becomes aware of a potentially unsafe condition in an aircraft or aeronautical product in relation to which an approved design organisation issued an approval or certificate, CASA may, by written notice given to the organisation, direct the organisation to give CASA stated assistance in investigating the condition.
(2) The organisation commits an offence if the organisation does not comply with the direction.
(3) An offence against this regulation is an offence of strict
liability.
