TELECOMMUNICATIONS (INTERCEPTION AND ACCESS) ACT 1979 - SECT 111
Form of applications(1) The application must be in writing.
(2) However, a person making the application on the agency's behalf may make the application by telephone if the person:
(a) is the chief officer of the agency or a person in relation to whom an authorisation by the chief officer is in force under subsection (3); and
(b) thinks it necessary, because of urgent circumstances, to make the application by telephone.
(3) The chief officer of a criminal law - enforcement agency
may, in writing, authorise persons (including classes of persons) for the
purposes of subsection (2). However, each person must be entitled under
section 110 to make applications on the agency's behalf.
