REFERENDUM (MACHINERY PROVISIONS) ACT 1984 - SECT 33
Right of elector to receive ballot paper(1) Subject to section 37, the presiding officer or a polling official at each polling booth shall hand to each person claiming to vote at a referendum a ballot paper duly initialled by the officer or official if:
(a) the name under which the person claims to vote is on the certified list of voters or an approved list of voters used at the polling booth, and the person's answers to the questions referred to in sections 30 and 31 show that he or she is entitled to vote; or
(b) the person claims to vote pursuant to provisions of this Act relating to absent voting and complies with those provisions.
(2) A presiding officer or polling official shall, at the
request of a scrutineer appointed under section 27, note any objection
by the scrutineer to the right of any person to vote at a referendum, and
shall keep a record of all objections.
