REFERENDUM (MACHINERY PROVISIONS) ACT 1984 - SECT 18
Substitute for presiding officer(1) During a temporary absence of a presiding officer, the duties of the presiding officer may be performed by a person appointed for the purpose by the presiding officer.
(2) A person so appointed has all the powers of the
presiding officer.
