REFERENDUM (MACHINERY PROVISIONS) ACT 1984 - SECT 143
No referendum or vote of a State or Territory to be held on voting day On the voting day for a referendum, no election or referendum or
vote of the electors of any State or Territory or part of a State or Territory
shall, without the authority of the Governor - General, be held or taken under
a law of a State or Territory.
