PROTECTION OF MOVABLE CULTURAL HERITAGE ACT 1986 - SECT 12
Certificates of exemption(1) Where a person intends to import an Australian protected object:
(a) for temporary purposes; or
(b) in circumstances in which the person may wish subsequently to export the object;
the person may apply to the Minister for a certificate authorising the exportation of the object.
(2) An application shall be made in writing in the approved form.
(3) On receipt of an application, the Minister shall:
(a) grant a certificate, subject to such conditions (if any) as the Minister specifies; or
(b) refuse to grant a certificate.
(4) A certificate shall be in writing in the approved form.
(5) A certificate comes into force on the date on which it is granted and remains in force for the period specified in the certificate.
(6) If the Minister refuses to grant a certificate, the Minister
shall, within the prescribed period after the decision is made, cause to be
served on the applicant notice in writing of the refusal, setting out the
reasons for the refusal.
