PRODUCTIVITY COMMISSION ACT 1998 - SECT 17
Requests for advice(1) If the Minister requests the Commission's advice on a matter, the Minister may specify any or all of the following:
(a) that the advice is to be in writing;
(b) a period within which the advice is to be given;
(c) any matter to which the Commission is to have regard in giving the advice;
and the Commission must act accordingly.
(2) The Minister may withdraw or amend the request at any time before the Commission gives the advice.
(3) If the Minister requests the Commission's advice on a
matter, the Commission may also advise the Minister on any matters it
considers relevant to the matter.
