NATIONAL GALLERY ACT 1975 - SECT 4
Establishment of National Gallery of Australia
- (1)
- The National Gallery of Australia is established.
- (2)
- The Gallery:
(a)
is a body corporate;
(b) shall have a seal;
(c) may acquire, hold and dispose of real and personal property; and
(d) may sue or be sued in its corporate name.
Note: The
Commonwealth Authorities and Companies Act 1997 applies to the
Gallery. That Act deals with matters relating to Commonwealth
authorities, including reporting and accountability, banking and
investment, and conduct of officers.
- (3)
- The seal of the Gallery
shall be kept in such custody as the Council directs and shall not be
used except as authorized by the Council.
- (4)
- All courts, judges and
persons acting judicially shall take judicial notice of the imprint of
the seal of the Gallery affixed to a document and shall presume that
it was duly affixed.
