Commonwealth Consolidated Acts(1) If a seaman commits any act of smuggling by which loss or damage is occasioned to the master or owner of the ship, the seaman may be ordered by any court of summary jurisdiction to pay to the master or owner a sum sufficient to recoup the loss or damage, and that sum may, without prejudice to any other remedy, be deducted from any wages due to the seaman.
(2) Nothing in this section shall relieve any seaman from any penalty incurred on account of any act of smuggling.
