MUTUAL ASSISTANCE IN CRIMINAL MATTERS ACT 1987 - SECT 31
Arrest of person in transit(1) Any police officer may, without warrant, arrest a person if the police officer has reasonable grounds to believe that the person was being kept in custody pursuant to a direction under paragraph 29(1)(d) and has escaped from that custody.
(2) The police officer must, as soon as practicable, take the person before a Magistrate or eligible Judge.
(3) If the Magistrate or Judge is satisfied that the person has
escaped from lawful custody, the Magistrate or Judge may issue a warrant
authorising any police officer to return the person to lawful custody.
