EVIDENCE AND PROCEDURE (NEW ZEALAND) ACT 1994 - SECT 37

Contempt of New Zealand courts

                   A person must not, while evidence is being given or a submission is being made in Australia, by video link or telephone, in the proceeding:

                     (a)  assault in Australia:

                              (i)  a person appearing in the proceeding as a barrister, a solicitor or both; or

                             (ii)  a witness in the proceeding; or

                            (iii)  an officer of an Australian court giving assistance under section 36; or

                     (b)  threaten, intimidate or intentionally insult:

                              (i)  a judge of the New Zealand court who is taking part in the proceeding; or

                             (ii)  a Master, Registrar, Deputy Registrar or other officer of that court who is taking part in or assisting in the proceeding; or

                            (iii)  a person appearing in the proceeding as a barrister, a solicitor or both; or

                            (iv)  a witness in the proceeding; or

                     (c)  intentionally interrupt or obstruct the proceeding; or

                     (d)  intentionally disobey an order or direction of the court.

Penalty:  Imprisonment for 3 months.
