DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC PROSECUTIONS ACT 1983 - SECT 13
Director may request assistance of Commissioner of Police(a) is considering instituting, taking over or carrying on, or has instituted or taken over, or is carrying on, a prosecution for an offence against a law of the Commonwealth; and
(b) is of the opinion that a matter connected with, or arising out of, the offence requires further investigation;
the Director may, by instrument in writing, request the Commissioner of Police
of the Australian Federal Police for the assistance of the Commissioner, a
Deputy Commissioner of the Australian Federal Police or AFP employees (within
the meaning of the Australian Federal Police Act 1979 ) in the investigation
of that matter, and where the Director so requests, the Commissioner shall, so
far as practicable, comply with the request.
