AUDITOR-GENERAL ACT 1997 - SECT 48
Confidentiality of information(1) If a person has obtained information in the course of performing a function under this Part, the person must not disclose the information except in the course of performing a function under this Part.
Penalty: Imprisonment for 2 years.
Note: Chapter 2 of the Criminal Code sets out the general principles of criminal responsibility.
(2) Subsection (1) does not prevent the Independent
Auditor from disclosing particular information to the Commissioner of the
Australian Federal Police if the Independent Auditor is of the opinion that
the disclosure is in the public interest.
