A Bill for an Act to amend the Trade Practices Act
1974 in relation to mergers in regional markets, and for related
purposes
The Parliament of Australia enacts:
This Act may be cited as the Trade Practices Amendment (Mergers in
Regional Markets) Act 2001.
This Act commences on the 28th day after the day on which it receives the
Royal Assent.
Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or
repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any
other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its
terms.
1 Subsection 50(6) (definition of
market)
Repeal the definition, substitute:
market means a substantial market for goods or services
in:
(a) Australia; or
(b) a State; or
(c) a Territory; or
(d) a region of Australia.
2 Subclause 50(6) of the Schedule (definition of
market)
Repeal the definition, substitute:
market means a substantial market for goods or services
in:
(a) Australia; or

(c) a Territory; or
(d) a region of Australia.
