Special Broadcasting Service Amendment (Prohibition of Disruptive Advertising) Bill 2008 No. , 2008 1 [Page Break] 2 Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or 3 repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule 4 concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect 5 according to its terms. 6 D:\BillsMigrate2-copy\SenateBills\Bills\FIRST\0805020.doc 23/7/2008 10:45 PM [Page Break] 2 Schedule 1--Amendment of the Special 3 Broadcasting Service Act 1991 4 1 Paragraph 45(2)(a) 5 Omit ", after programs end or during natural program breaks", substitute 6 "or after programs end". 7 2 After section 45 8 Insert: 9 45A Non-program-content 10 (1) The SBS must not interrupt a televised program for 11 non-program-content (NPC). 12 (2) For the purposes of this section, NPC is taken to mean any material 13 that is separate from the program being broadcast such as, but not 14 limited to, advertisements, sponsorship announcements, community 15 service announcements, station promotional material, program 16 promotional material and similar material.
