The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Renewable Energy (Electricity)

(Charge) Amendment Act 2009.

2 Commence ment

This Act commences on the day after it receives the Royal Assent.

3 Schedule(s)

Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or

repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule

2 Renewable Energy (Electricity) (Charge) Amendment Bill 2009 No. , 2009
concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect

according to its terms.

2 Application

(1)
The amendment made by item 1 of this Schedule applies in respect of a

renewable energy certificate shortfall for the calendar years that fall
8
during the period:
9
(a) starting on 1 January 2010; and
10
(b) ending on 31 December 2030.

In this item:

renewable energy certificate shortfall has the same meaning as in the
13
Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000.
