annual report prepared under section 19 of the Act, and for related
purposes
The Parliament of Australia enacts:
1 Short
title
This Act may be cited as the Governor-General Amendment Act
2002.
2 Commencement
This Act commences on the day on
which it receives the Royal
Assent.
3 Schedule
The
Governor-General Act 1974 is amended as set out in the applicable items
in Schedule 1.

1 After subsection 19(2)
Insert:
(3) The report shall
stand referred to the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Legal and
Constitutional Affairs so that members of the House may, through that Committee,
examine the report so as to inform themselves of all aspects of the operation of
the Office of the Official Secretary.
(4) Where the Standing Committee on
Legal and Constitutional affairs has examined the report under subsection (3)
the Committee must, as soon as practicable, make a report to the House to inform
Members of any comments the Committee may have.
