A Bill for an Act to continue a system of child care
planning and allocation of resources for regions of high need, and for related
purposes
The Parliament of Australia enacts:
This Act may be cited as the Child Care Legislation Amendment (High
Need Regions) Act 1999.
This Act commences on the day on which it receives the Royal
Assent.
Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or
repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any
other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its
terms.
1 After subsection 4B(2)
Insert:
(2A) The Minister must make a determination under this section for the
period 1 January 2000 to 31 December 2001 for the purpose of continuing a system
of child care planning and allocation of resources for regions of high
need.
2 After subsection 4C(1)
Insert:
(1AA) The Minister must, by determination in writing, make
guidelines:
(a) with respect to the exercise of the Minister’s powers under
section 4B; and
(b) with respect to the exercise of the Secretary’s powers under
section 12F;
for the period 1 January 2000 to 31 December 2001 for the purpose of
continuing a system of child care planning and allocation of resources for
regions of high need.
3 At the end of subsection
12F(1)
Add “or (2A)”.
4 Subsection 12F(3)
Repeal the subsection.
1 Subsection 2(2)
Omit “and Schedules 3 to 8”, substitute “, items 1, 2, 4,
5, 6, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 27 of Schedule 3 and Schedules 4 to
8”.
2 After subsection 2(3)
Insert:
(3A) Items 3, 7, 8, 10, 16 to 26 (inclusive), 28 and 29 of Schedule 3
commence on 1 January 2002.
