The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Business Names Registration
8
(Application of Consequential Amendments) Act 2011.

2 Commencement

(1) Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table
11
commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with
12
2 Business Names Registration (Application of Consequential Amendments) Bill 2011
No. , 2011
column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect

according to its terms.

Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or

repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule

concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect

according to its terms.

4 Dictionary

In this Act:

ASIC means the Australian Securities and Investments

Commission.

Australian Business Register means the register established under

section 24 of the A New Tax System (Australian Business Number)

Act 1999.

Business Names Registration Consequential Act means the

Business Names Registration (Transitional and Consequential

Provisions) Act 2011.

change-over day means the day on which Part 2 of the Business
7
Names Registration Act 2011 commences.
8
Registrar means the Registrar of the Australian Business Register.

1 Application of amendment to the A New Tax System

(Australian Business Number) Act 1999

The amendment made by item 1 of Schedule 2 to the Business Names

Registration Consequential Act applies in relation to the following:

(a) copies of entries in the Australian Business Register given to
8
a person by the Registrar on or after the change-over day;
9
(b) applications made on or after the change-over day for a detail
10
not to be disclosed in a copy of an entry in the Australian
11
Business Register.

2 Application of amendments to the ANL Act 1956 and the
13
Bank Integration Act 1991

The amendments made by items 2, 3, 8 and 9 of Schedule 2 to the
15
Business Names Registration Consequential Act apply in relation to
16
things done on or after the change-over day.

3 Application of amendments to the Corporations (Aboriginal
18
and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006
19
The amendments made by items 10 to 13 of Schedule 2 to the Business
20
Names Registration Consequential Act apply in relation to the
21
availability of names on or after the change-over day.

4 Application of amendments to the Corporations Act 2001

The amendments made by items 15, 16, 17 and 19 of Schedule 2 to the

Business Names Registration Consequential Act apply in relation to the

availability of names on or after the change-over day.

(2)
The amendments made by items 18 and 20 of Schedule 2 to the

Business Names Registration Consequential Act apply in relation to

things done on or after the change-over day.

accounts opened on or after the change-over day.

6 Application of amendments to the Defence Service Homes

Act 1918, the Olympic Insignia Protection Act 1987 and

the Wine Australia Corporation Act 1980

The amendments made by items 21, 24 and 26 of Schedule 2 to the
7
Business Names Registration Consequential Act apply in relation to the
8
use of names on or after the change-over day.

7 Application of amendment to the Qantas Sale Act 1992

The amendment made by item 25 of Schedule 2 to the Business Names
11
Registration Consequential Act applies on and after the change-over
12
day.
