A New Tax System (Family Assistance) (Improved Access to Baby Bonus) Amendment Bill 2008 No. , 2008 1 [Page Break] 1 3 Schedule(s) 2 Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or 3 repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule 4 concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect 5 according to its terms. 6 4 Object 7 The object of this Act is to permit all adoptive parents to become 8 eligible for baby bonus payment. 9 5 Appropriation of funds 10 Any money payable under paragraph 36(5)(b) of the A New Tax 11 System (Family Assistance) (Improved Access to Baby Bonus) Act 12 2008 is to be paid from moneys appropriated by the Parliament for 13 that purpose. 14 2 A New Tax System (Family Assistance) (Improved Access to Baby Bonus) Amendment Bill 2008 No. , 2008 [Page Break] 1 2 Schedule 1--Amendment of the A New Tax 3 System (Family Assistance) Act 1999 4 1 Paragraph 36(5)(b) 5 Repeal the paragraph, substitute: 6 (b) the child is a person under the age of consent, where age of 7 consent has the same meaning as in the Social Security Act 8 1991, at the time the child is entrusted to the care of the 9 individual; and 10 Note: The Social Security Act 1991 refers to the age of consent as being 11 the age of consent applicable in the State or Territory in which 12 the person lives at the time. 13 2 Paragraph 36(5)(ba) 14 Repeal the paragraph.
