The Parliament of Australia enacts:
1 Short title
This Act may be cited as the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Amendment Act 2006.
2 Commencement
(1) Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1--Amendments
Australian Broadcasting Corporation Act 1983
1 At the end of paragraph 12(1)(a)
Add "and".
2 Paragraph 12(1)(b)
Repeal the paragraph.
3 Subsection 12(4)
Omit "or staff-elected Director".
4 Subsection 12(4A)
Repeal the subsection.
5 Sections 13A and 13B
Repeal the sections.
6 Subsection 17(1A)
Repeal the subsection.
7 At the end of subparagraph 18(2)(a)(ii)
Add "or".
8 Paragraph 18(2)(aa)
Repeal the paragraph.
9 Subsection 18(3)
Repeal the subsection.
10 Subsection 21(7)
Repeal the subsection.
11 Cessation of staff-elected Director and deputy
(1) Any person who is the staff-elected Director immediately before the commencement of item 2 of this Schedule ceases, by force of this subitem, to be a member of the Board on the commencement of that item.
(2) Any person who is the deputy of the staff-elected Director immediately before the commencement of item 5 of this Schedule ceases, by force of this subitem, to be the deputy of the staff-elected Director on the commencement of that item.
