DOMESTIC VIOLENCE (AMENDMENT) ACT  (No 37 of 1996)

- TABLE OF PROVISIONS

1.   This Act may be cited as the Domestic Violence (Amendment) Act (No. 2) 1996.  
2.   This Act commences on the day on which it is notified in the Gazette.  
3.   In this Act, "Principal Act" means the Domestic Violence Act 1986.1  
4.   Section 27 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from subsection (1) "not exceeding 6 months, or both" and substituting--

1.  This Act may be cited as the Domestic Violence (Amendment) Act (No. 2) 1996.

2.  This Act commences on the day on which it is notified in the Gazette.
 Principal Act

3.  In this Act, "Principal Act" means the Domestic Violence Act 1986.1
 Offence

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE (AMENDMENT) ACT 
- SECT 4
4.  Section 27 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from subsection (1) "not exceeding 6 months, or both" and substituting--
"not exceeding--
         (a)     in the case of a first offence--2 years; or
         (b)     in any other case--5 years;
or by both fine and imprisonment".
