WEAPONS (AMENDMENT) ACT 1996 (NO 10 OF 1996)

TABLE OF PROVISIONS

           Long Title

   1.      This Act may be cited as the Weapons (Amendment) Act 1996.  
   3.      In this Act, “Principal Act” means the Weapons Act 1991.1  
   4.      Section 4 of the Principal Act is amended—  
   5.      Section 5 of the Principal Act is amended—  
   6.      Section 13 of the Principal Act is amended—  
   7.      Section 14 of the Principal Act is repealed.  
   8.      Section 16 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting in subsection (1) “, use or cause or permit to be used” after “possession”.  
   9.      After section 19 of the Principal Act the following section is inserted:  
   10.     Section 20 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting in paragraph (1) (a) “or a prison officer of a State or another Territory,” before “who”.  
   11.     Section 21 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting paragraph (b) and substituting the following paragraph:  
   12.     After section 22 of the Principal Act the following section is inserted:  
   13.     Section 24 of the Principal Act is amended—  
   14.     Section 25 of the Principal Act is amended by adding at the end the following subsections:  
   15.     Section 27 of the Principal Act is repealed and the following section substituted:  
   16.     Section 30 of the Principal Act is amended by adding at the end the following subsection:  
   17.     Section 31 of the Principal Act is repealed.  
   18.     After section 33 of the Principal Act the following Division is inserted:  
   19.     Section 35 of the Principal Act is amended by adding at the end the following subsection:  
   20.     Section 37 of the Principal Act is repealed.  
   21.     After section 45 of the Principal Act the following sections are inserted:  
   22.     Section 51 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting after paragraph (2) (b) the following paragraph:  
   23.     After section 51 of the Principal Act the following section is inserted:  
   24.     Section 56 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting in paragraphs (1) (a) and (b) “or inoperable” after “dangerous”.  
   25.     Section 57 of the Principal Act is amended—  
   26.     Section 58 of the Principal Act is amended—  
   27.     Section 60 of the Principal Act is amended—  
   28.     Section 72 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from paragraph (1) (a) “and” and substituting “or”.  
   29.     Section 73 of the Principal Act is amended—  
   30.     Before section 75 of the Principal Act the following section is inserted in Part VI:  
   31.     Section 77 of the Principal Act is amended by adding at the end the following subsections:  
   32.     Section 82 of the Principal Act is amended—  
   33.     Section 90 of the Principal Act is amended—  
   34.     Section 91 of the Principal Act is amended—  
   35.     Section 92 of the Principal Act is repealed and the following sections are substituted:  
   36.     Section 98 of the Principal Act is amended—  
   38.     Schedule 3 to the Principal Act is amended—
