MEDICINES, POISONS AND THERAPEUTIC GOODS REGULATION 2008 - REG 544

Prescribed witnesses for administration of controlled medicines—Act, s 53 (a) and (b)

The following people are prescribed as witnesses in relation to the administration of a controlled medicine:

        (a)     if the medicine is administered by an intern doctor—a dentist, doctor, midwife, nurse, nurse practitioner or pharmacist;

        (b)     if the medicine is administered by a person who is not an intern doctor—

              (i)     a person prescribed under paragraph (a); or

              (ii)     an intern doctor or enrolled nurse.

Note     Dentist , doctor and "pharmacist" does not include an intern or trainee (see defs of these terms in dict).
