Australian Capital Territory Consolidated Acts(1) A police officer who arrests a person for an offence against this Act must tell the arrested person, or someone else acting on behalf of the arrested person, that the arrested person is entitled to be examined by a doctor or authorised nurse practitioner nominated by the arrested person or other person.
(2) If the arrested person or the other person on his or her behalf requests the police officer to arrange such a medical examination, the police officer must, as far as it is practicable and as soon as it is practicable to do so, arrange for the medical examination of the arrested person.
