PROHIBITED WEAPONS ACT 1996 - SECT 5

Offence—unauthorised possession or use of prohibited weapons

A person commits an offence if the person—

        (a)     possesses or uses a prohibited weapon; and

        (b)     is not authorised by a permit, or otherwise under this Act, to possess or use the weapon.

Maximum penalty: 500 penalty units, imprisonment for 5 years or both.

Note     A reference to an Act includes a reference to the statutory instruments made or in force under the Act, including any regulation (see Legislation Act, s 104).
