LEGISLATION ACT 2001 - SECT 178

    (1)     A court, tribunal or other entity authorised by law to hear and decide a matter (however expressed) has power—

        (a)     to take evidence, including evidence on oath; and

        (b)     to examine witnesses; and

        (c)     to administer oaths to witnesses.

    (2)     The court, tribunal or other entity may authorise a person to administer an oath to a witness.

    (3)     This section does not limit any other power of the court, tribunal or other entity.
