Australian Capital Territory Consolidated Acts Australian Capital Territory Consolidated Acts(1) A person who uses an appliance must take reasonable steps to ensure that the appliance is used safely.
Maximum penalty: 20 penalty units.
(2) Without limiting the operation of subsection (1), a person complies with that subsection if—
(a) the person relies on, and acts in accordance with—
(i) the manufacturer's instructions for safe use; or
(ii) the advice of a gasfitter or a person accredited to do appliance work; and
(b) it is reasonable in the
circumstances to do so.
