Australian Capital Territory Consolidated Acts Australian Capital Territory Consolidated Acts(1) In the exercise, or purported exercise, of a function under this part, an authorised officer must take all reasonable steps to ensure that the authorised officer, and any person assisting the authorised officer, causes as little inconvenience, detriment and damage as is practicable.
(2) If an authorised officer, or a person assisting an authorised officer, damages anything in the exercise or purported exercise of a function under this part, the authorised officer must give written notice of the particulars of the damage to the person whom the authorised officer believes, on reasonable grounds, is the owner of the thing.
(3) If the damage happens on premises entered under this part in the absence of the occupier, the notice may be given by securing it in a conspicuous place on the premises.
