Australian Capital Territory Consolidated Acts(1) An inspector who enters premises under this part and finds an article of electrical equipment, or an electrical installation, that the inspector believes on reasonable grounds is a source of danger, may—
(a) label the article conspicuously to indicate the danger and prohibit use of the article until it has been repaired or otherwise rendered safe for use; or
(b) disconnect the installation.
(2) A person commits an offence if—
(a) an article of electrical equipment labelled under subsection (1) has not been repaired or made safe to use; and
(b) the person—
(i) uses the article; or
(ii) removes or interferes with the label.
Maximum penalty: 50 penalty units, imprisonment for 6 months or both.
