Australian Capital Territory Consolidated Acts(1) The chief executive may, after consulting the commissioner, appoint a public servant to be the chief officer of the ambulance service (the chief officer (ambulance service) ).

Note 2 In particular, an appointment may be made by naming a person or nominating the occupant of a position (see s 207).
(2) However, the chief executive may appoint a person under subsection (1) only if the person has the management, professional and technical expertise to exercise the chief officer's functions.
(3) The chief officer (ambulance service) is responsible for—
(a) the general management and control of the ambulance service; and
(b) matters relating to the professional and technical expertise of the ambulance service; and

(c) community awareness about pre-hospital medical emergencies .
