Australian Capital Territory Consolidated Acts(1) The electoral commission must, in writing, establish redistribution committees for this part.
(2) The establishment of a redistribution committee is a notifiable instrument.
Note A notifiable instrument must be notified under the Legislation Act 2001 .
(3) A redistribution committee shall consist of—
(a) the commissioner; and
(b) the planning and land authority; and
(c) the chief surveyor; and
(d) a person appointed by the electoral commission whose qualifications or experience would, in the opinion of the electoral commission, enable the person to assist the committee, particularly in relation to the factors set out in section 36.

(4) The member mentioned in subsection (3) (d) holds the position on the conditions that are decided by the electoral commission in consultation with the Minister and stated in the member's appointment.
(5) The chief surveyor is not subject to direction from anyone (other than the electoral commissioner, for the efficient functioning of the redistribution committee) in the exercise of the chief surveyor's functions as a member of the committee.
