ELECTORAL ACT 1992 - SECT 251

    (1)     In this part:

"Speaker" includes—

        (a)     if the Speaker is unavailable—the Deputy Speaker; or

        (b)     if both the Speaker and Deputy Speaker are unavailable—another MLA who is not the subject of a proceeding and is appointed by the Assembly to act as the Speaker for this part; or

        (c)     if both the Speaker and Deputy Speaker are unavailable and no MLA is appointed for paragraph (b)—the clerk of the Assembly.

    (2)     For subsection (1), the Speaker or Deputy Speaker is unavailable if—

        (a)     the office-holder is absent from duty; or

        (b)     there is a vacancy in the office; or

        (c)     the office-holder is the subject of a proceeding.
