ELECTORAL ACT 1992 - SECT 175
Proceedings at close of pollAt the close of the poll, the returning officer shall, in the presence of the assistant returning officer—
(a) open the ballot box; and
(b) transmit to the authorised officer—
(i) particulars of each elector who has voted at the station in the election; and
(ii) unless subparagraph (iii) applies, particulars of the marking of each ballot paper; and
(iii) if the returning officer is unable to read or understand clearly the particulars referred to in subparagraph (ii)—a statement to explain that inability; and
(c) prepare a written statement of the information transmitted.
Note A ballot paper completed by an Antarctic elector may be faxed to the commissioner, see s 329.
