ELECTORAL ACT 1992 - SECT 119
Polling places and scrutiny centres(1) The commissioner may—
(a) appoint a specified place to be a polling place on polling day for an election; and
(b) appoint a specified place to be a scrutiny centre during the election period for the purpose of the scrutiny at an election.
(2) An appointment is a notifiable instrument.
Note A notifiable instrument must be notified under the Legislation Act 2001
.
(3) During a pre-election period, the commissioner—
(a) must give additional public notice of the particulars of each polling place for the election; and
Note Public notice means notice on an ACT government website or in a daily newspaper circulating in the ACT (see Legislation Act
, dict, pt 1). The requirement in s (3) is in addition to the requirement for notification on the legislation register as a notifiable instrument.
(b) may publish notice of the particulars of each polling place for the election by any other means the commissioner determines.
