ELECTORAL ACT 1992 - SECT 11

    (1)     The commissioner is the chief executive officer of the electoral commission.

    (2)     The commissioner has the functions given to the commissioner under this Act or another territory law.

Note     A provision of a law that gives an entity (including a person) a function also gives the entity powers necessary and convenient to exercise the function (see Legislation Act 2001

, s 196 and dict, pt 1, def of entity ).

    (3)     The commissioner may give written directions to officers and members of the staff of the electoral commission in relation to the exercise of their functions under this Act or another territory law.
