CORRECTIONS MANAGEMENT ACT 2007 - SECT 24

    (1)     The Minister may declare a place to be a correctional centre.

    (2)     A declaration is a notifiable instrument.

Examples of declarations

1     the declaration of a place, including a buffer zone surrounding a secure perimeter, to be a correctional centre

2     a declaration of a place to be a correctional centre for full-time detention, or for a stated time and purpose, eg a temporary correctional centre for remandees

Note 1     A notifiable instrument must be notified under the Legislation Act

Note 2     The power to make an instrument includes power to make different provisions in relation to different matters or different classes of matters, and provisions that apply differently by reference to stated exceptions or factors (see Legislation Act

, s 48).
