About The University of NSW Law Journal

The University of New South Wales Law Journal is one of Australia's leading academic publications. The Journal is renowned for publishing articles which are relevant not only to academics, but legal and business professionals as well.

Journal Publications

The Journal publishes three issues annually:

General Issues

There are two General Issues published annually. Each General Issue contains articles on a broad range of legal issues which are submitted to the Journal by judges, academics and other members of the legal profession. The Journal also accepts student articles of the highest standard.

Thematic Issues

There is one Thematic Issue published annually. The Thematic Issue contains articles on a particular legal topic which is researched and selected by the Board.

The current Thematic Issue, Volume 21 Number 2 1998, is called "Electronic Commerce: Legal Issues for the Information Age" and is available on AustLII. The provision of this issue has been made possible through the patronage of the National Office for the Information Economy.

Forum

The Journal also publishes a newsletter, Forum, biannually. This newsletter is a more informal publication designed to address, in a polemic as opposed to academic manner, issues which are of current interest and controversy. The object of Forum is to encourage thoughtful and intelligent debate on issues relevant to the law. Vigorous argument and analysis of current legal affairs is for the most part impossible in the general media, and it is hoped that the provision of a separate arena such as Forum, devoted to discussion of legal matters by the legal community, will promote better awareness and understanding of such issues within academic, professional, judicial and other circles.

A number of Issues published by the Law Journal are also available on AustLII.

More detailed information about the Journal and its various publications as well as subscription and submission are available at the Law Journal's own website at http://www.law.unsw.edu.au/unswlj/unswlj.htm
